Karima has devoted her life to building bridges between businesses and the community of Washington, D.C. Her admirable dedication to the city shines brightly; she deeply cares about the place that she leads. Her qualities of consideration and thoroughness are truly mindfulness in action.

The Deputy Mayor's office, the team Karima has been part of since 2011, has overseen, among other successes, a nearly 4% drop in unemployment and DC's rise to the third most active destination in the U.S. for global capital with over $2.2 billion invested in 2016.

 

Karima shares about some projects within the District and George Washington University's deep involvement in local government and communities.

At GlaxoSmithKline Razeea is on the frontline of implementing mindfulness in the workplace. Not in any workplace, but a global pharmaceutical giant. She is scaling a mindfulness program for GSK’s employees around the world. It’s working, GSK was recognized as one of the UK’s healthiest workplaces in 2016.

Razeea is also part of the Mindfulness Initiative’s Private Sector Working Group. She contributed to Building a Case for Mindfulness in the Workplace which was originally published in 2015 and updated in 2016. The Mindfulness Initiative also coordinates with members of Parliament to publish Mindful Nation UK.

Razeea is a deeply practiced mindfulness professional working at all levels to bring mindfulness to her organization and society. We are thrilled to have her join us.

Darnell McDonald

Darnel McDonald spent 16 years in professional baseball player and after retiring as a player returned to the Chicago Cubs in their new Mental Skills Program. He teaches yoga and mindfulness techniques to help players improve their performance on the field and ability to handle the stress of big moments.

Dan Siegel

Co-director, UCLA Mindful Awareness Research Center

Dr. Siegel is the founding Co-director of the Mindful Awareness Research Center at UCLA. He is also the Executive Director of the Mindsight Institute which teaches insight, empathy, and integration in individuals, families and communities.
